In a workout, the work will never give you results. The difficulty in the skill needed will provide little, the results most of us seek (other than potential skill honing). The workout itself isn’t a time for honing or practicing. Ability and talent won’t put us any closer to achieving what we really want. What will earn us the results we all seek is EFFORT. The effort you put forth is everything, in relation to the results you will earn. The next time a 20min AMRAP shows up and you’re only goal is to “be faster than Bill”, remind yourself that’s all you’ll be, and even that won’t last if Bill is pushing to his maximum potential. Bill will be working to his fullest ability, his cap capacity, and Bill will be forcing adaptation within his body. He will be promoting change and growth.
Don’t look to the workout to give you results. (at least at first). Don’t look to someone or anyone else to give you results. YOUR EFFORT dictates YOUR RESULTS.
The hardest working athletes will benefit from poor programming far more than an athlete exerting moderate effort through great programming. PUSH YOURSELF.
